Creative Arts Emmys 2022: HBO/HBO Max is on top with a total of 25 awards over two days

HBO’s Euphoria and The White Lotus emerge top winners at the 74th Annual Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards 2022

HBO/HBO Max emerged on top with a combined tally of 25 wins at the 74th Annual Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards 2022, which was held in two parts at the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles over Sunday and Monday.

The first part (hosted on Saturday night in the US) of the award ceremony saw HBO’s Euphoria and The White Lotus emerging the biggest winners.

On the first night, HBO/HBO Max bagged the most wins with nine Emmy awards. The Monday ceremony (hosted on Sunday in the US), which focused on unscripted, variety and documentary fare, had HBO/HBO Max adding 16 more Emmy awards to its kitty, ending up with a total haul of 25 Emmy awards.

Actress Laurie Metcalf won in the Outstanding Guest Actress in the Comedy category for her role in Hacks, while Colman Domingo received the award in the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama category for Euphoria.

HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver picked up its seventh consecutive Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series. It also won in the Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork and Video Control for A Series categories.

The White Lotus also bagged the award in the Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music category.

HBO’s Barry received the laurel in the Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation category. The black comedy series also won the Emmy awards in the Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series and Outstanding Stunt Coordination for a Comedy Series or Variety Program categories.

HBO’s The Gilded Age received the Emmy award in the Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Period or Fantasy Program (One Hour or More) category.

HBO’s George Carlin’s American Dream won in the Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special category. Executive producer Kelly Carlin, the late George Carlin’s daughter, accepted the prize.

HBO’s A Black Lady Sketch Show won Emmy awards in both Directing and Picture Editing in the Outstanding Variety Series categories.
