If you are a fan of courtroom dramas, this one’s for you. Argentina, 1985, directed by Argentine filmmaker Santiago Mitre, is an intense courtroom drama revolving around one of the most important trials in the history of Argentina.
Argentina, 1985 premiered in competition at the Venice Film Festival on September 3.
It revolves around the true story of Julio Strassera and Luis Moreno Ocampo, who dared to prosecute Argentina’s bloodiest military dictatorship, along with their young legal team of juniors, against all odds to bring justice to the victims of the Military Junta. The film is also about an earnest attempt to impose democracy through the rule of law.
Mitre has written the screenplay with Mariano Llinás. While Ricardo Darín plays prosecutor Julio Strassera, Peter Lanzani essays the role of deputy prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo in the film.
Argentina, 1985 drops on Amazon Prime Video on October 21.
