Russo Brothers’s Citadel: Diana, an Italian spin-off to their spy thriller Citadel, is set to stream on Prime Video in 2024, the filmmaker duo have announced.
Starring Italian actress Matilda De Angelis in the lead role, the series will expand the Citadel spy universe with the addition of new characters from the European country.
The production for Citadel: Diana is currently underway in Italy. Suburra: Blood on Rome director Arnaldo Catinari is directing the series, which also stars Lorenzo Cervasio, Maurizio Lombardi, Thekla Reuten, Julia Piaton, Filippo Nigro and Bernhard Schütz.
A post-credit sneak peek into Citadel: Diana was offered by the makers at the end of the last episode of the Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden-starrer Citadel Season 1 (the U.S. version). The US version of the show has also been renewed for a sequel, to be directed by Joe Russo.
The first episode of the six-episode series had dropped on April 28 this year. Citadel centres around the fall of the global spy agency Citadel with its leading spies losing their memory. The surviving spies are now up against the crime syndicate Manticore that is stronger than ever. Priyanka and Richard lead the show along with Stanley Tucci and Lesley Manville.
The Indian version of Citadel, helmed by Raj & DK and starring Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, will release soon on Prime Video.
