Long-running television show CID is set to return for a new season after a six-year hiatus, Sony Entertainment Television announced on Thursday, sharing a teaser featuring Shivaji Satam as ACP Pradyuman and Aditya Srivastava as Inspector Abhijeet.
“Mark your calendars - 26th October ko hoga ek dhamakedar promo drop,” reads the post on Sony TV’s official X page.
Set to the show’s theme track, the teaser begins with a close-up of a wounded Aditya Srivastava. In the background, the ticking of a time bomb intensifies as ACP Pradyuman steps out of a police van, holding an umbrella.
Created by B. P. Singh and produced by Fireworks Production, CID premiered on Sony Entertainment Television from January 21, 1998 to October 27, 2018.
In addition to Shivaji and Aditya, the police procedural series also starred Dayanand Shetty as Inspector Daya, Dinesh Phadnis as Inspector Fredricks, Shraddha Musale as Dr. Tarika and Narendra Gupta as Dr. Salunkhe. One of India’s longest-running television series, CID spanned 1,547 episodes over a period of 20 years.
The first promo for the upcoming season is slated to drop on October 26. While Shivaji and Aditya will reprise their roles in the new season, information about other returning characters has been kept under wraps. According to media reports, the new season of CID will premiere in November.
