Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar to re-release in theatres on 10th anniversary

Released in 2014, the sci-fi film won an Oscar for visual effects

Christopher Nolan’s Academy Award-winning film Interstellar (2014) is set for a re-release in theatres on December 6 to mark its 10th anniversary, announced IMAX on Thursday.

“It’s been 10 years since #Interstellar released in IMAX. How much time has passed on Miller’s Planet? 🤔🪐 Experience Christopher Nolan’s masterpiece back in theatres exclusively in IMAX on Dec 6. 70mm shows on sale now! Link in bio,” wrote the corporation on its official Instagram handle alongside a poster of the film.

Starring Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon, John Lithgow, Michael Caine, Timothée Chalamet, Ellen Burstyn, Bill Irwin, Wes Bentley, David Oyelowo and Casey Affleck, the film was nominated in five categories at the Oscars and won an award in the best visual effects category. The film has earned 730 million dollars at the global box office.

“When Earth becomes uninhabitable in the future, a farmer and ex-NASA pilot, Joseph Cooper (Matthew McConaughey), is tasked to pilot a spacecraft, along with a team of researchers, to find a new planet for humans,” reads the official synopsis of the film on IMDb.

Christopher Nolan's latest work includes his 2023 biopic, Oppenheimer, which tells the gripping story of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the physicist behind the development of the atomic bomb during WWII. This film earned Nolan historic Oscar wins for best director and best picture.
