Set against the backdrop of 1930s Chicago, The Bride offers a fresh perspective on the timeless Frankenstein narrative. Buckley plays the character of a murdered young woman who is brought back to life, but her newfound existence takes an unexpected turn as she yearns for love and sparks a transformative social movement.

The Bride is slated to hit theatres on October 2, 2025.

However, Gyllenhaal’s adaptation of the Frankenstein tale isn’t the only Frankenstein retelling in the pipeline. Guillermo del Toro is also working on a film based on the classic tale, featuring Jacob Elordi as the iconic monster. Del Toro’s project, backed by Netflix, boasts an ensemble cast including Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, Christian Convery, Charles Dance and Christoph Waltz.
