Chiyaan Vikram on Wednesday dropped his look from the highly-anticipated film Thangalaan amid reports that the Pa Ranjith-helmed period film might release on August 15.
“Exciting times!! #Thangalaan,” the Ponniyin Selvan actor wrote on X alongside a photo that shows him wearing a turban and sporting a beard.
Although the filming was completed last year, Thangalaan is yet to have a confirmed release date. It is reported by a section of the Telugu media that the release of Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule might be delayed due to incomplete shooting. This potential delay could allow Thangalaan to take its place during Independence Day.
Set against a pre-independence backdrop, Thangalaan tells the story of the inhabitants of Karnataka's Kolar Gold Fields. Produced by Studio Green, the movie also features Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, Parvathy, Daniel Caltigarone and Harikrishnan in key roles.
The soundtrack of Thangalaan is composed by GV Prakash, with cinematography by Kishor Kumar and editing by Selva RK.
Chiyaan Vikram was last seen in Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan II which hit cinemas in 2023. Pa Ranjith’s last directorial venture was the 2022 romantic musical drama Natchathiram Nagargiradhu starring Dushara Vijayan, Kalidas Jayaram and Kalaiyarasan.
