Jeet’s all-guns-blazing underworld don oozes glamour and fires bullets in equal measure as the Tollywood star preps for a promising showdown with his cop uncle, played by Rohit Bose Roy, in the Chengiz trailer dropped on Monday.

Set to release in Bengali and Hindi simultaneously on April 21, Chengiz chronicles the rise of an underworld don of the same name in Calcutta in the 1970s. The action-packed movie also stars Shataf Figar and Susmita Chatterjee in key roles.

Taking to twitter, Jeet shared the links to the Hindi and Bengali versions of the trailer. “Here’s the trailer of our story “Chengiz” …” he wrote.

The trailer begins in 1970 when Calcutta was under the control of three underworld dons — Omar, the king of central Calcutta; Manik Sanyal, the king of eastern Calcutta; Mirchi Bhai who controlled the docks in Kidderpore. But Jaidev Singh aka Chengiz outsmarted them all and earned a place in history.

The clip then goes on to show how Jaidev, who hails from a cop family, turns into the much-feared Chengiz. It takes a tragedy to deviate Jaidev from the path of his righteous father and uncle. An underworld kingpin takes the young man with a lot of promises under his wing. This is followed by a montage of action sequences featuring Jeet, who does it all — from brandishing weapons to throwing stashes of cash in the air. Chengiz’s cop-uncle is tasked with bringing him down, leading to a brutal showdown between the two men. Amidst all the action and violence, Chengiz also finds time to fall in love with an air hostess (Susmita Chatterjee). The trailer ends with a quip from Chengiz: “What you have seen is only the trailer. There are more games to play. We’ll play alright”.

Chengiz has been directed by Rajesh Ganguly, who has also worked on the dialogues and screenplay of the movie. A Wednesday director Neeraj Pandey has co-written the story with Ganguly.
