Veteran Bangladeshi actor Chanchal Chowdhury has joined the cast of Toofan, to be helmed by Raihan Rafi. Headlined by Shakib Khan, the upcoming film also stars Tollywood actress Mimi Chakraborty and Bangladeshi actress Masuma Rahman Nabila.
Produced jointly by SVF Bangladesh, Alpha-i and Bangladeshi OTT platform Chorki, the film was announced last year.
Speaking about his ‘special role’ in Toofan, Chanchal Chowdhury said, “Raihan Rafi is a talented director, and I have a great personal relationship with Shakib. It's exciting to work with them, especially since three big production companies — SVF Bangladesh, Alpha-i, and Chorki — are producing this project. I'm sure something remarkable will come out of it.”
Director Raihan Rafi is currently busy with the final preparations for Toofan. “Chanchal Bhai is a powerhouse actor in our country, and it’s an honour to have him join Shakib Bhai in Toofan,” Rafi said.
Mimi and Nabila were revealed as the female leads earlier this year, while Shakib’s look from the film was unveiled by the makers this month.
Mahendra Soni, director and co-founder of SVF, said, “We’ve previously collaborated with Chanchal Chowdhury on OTT content, and we’ve long planned to work with him on the big screen.”
“Chanchal bhai is a source of pride for us, and his work is known beyond our borders,” said Redwan Roni, CEO of Chorki.
“We needed a strong actor like Chanchal bhai to do justice to the character,” added Shahriar Shakil, managing director, Alpha-i Studios.
