Hoichoi unveiled the trailer of Anjan Dutt’s upcoming film Chaalchitra Ekhon, a tribute to Mrinal Sen in his centenary year, on Thursday.
Based on the making of Sen’s 1981 film Chaalchitra, Chaalchitra Ekhon is scheduled for release on May 10 both in theatres and on Hoichoi.

The two-minute-14-second trailer celebrates the unique bond between a mentor and his disciple as they shoot a film across Kolkata. Dutt steps into the shoes of Kunal Sen, a character inspired by the auteur, while debutante actor Sawon Chakraborty plays Ranjan, modelled after a young Dutt.
Chaalchitra Ekhon has already bagged several accolades at festivals, including the Special Jury Award for Innovation in Moving Images at Kolkata International Film Festival 2023 and the Best Actor Award for Dutt at Dhaka International Film Festival 2024.
“With Chaalchitra Ekhon, I embarked on a journey both personal and cinematic. It's a tribute to the maestro Mrinal Sen, a mentor whose influence shaped my artistry. Through this film, we delve into the essence of creativity, friendship, and the pulsating spirit of Kolkata in the 1980s,” Dutt said.
Neel Dutt, who is also the co-producer of the film, has composed the music for Chaalchitra Ekhon.
