Kapadia, who earlier this year won the prestigious Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival, will compete for the best foreign language film against La Chimera (Italy), Emilia Pérez (France), I’m Still Here (Brazil) and Kneecap (Ireland). The best film nominees include Anora, The Brutalist, La Chimera, Conclave, Emilia Pérez, Kneecap, Nickel Boys, Nosferatu and The Substance.

Despite not being selected as India’s official submission for the best international feature film category at the Oscars, All We Imagine as Light has been on an impressive award-winning streak. It was named best international feature film at the 2024 Gotham Awards and was also honoured as best non-English language film by both the New York Film Critics Circle and the Los Angeles Film Critics Association.

All We Imagine as Light features Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, Chhaya Kadam, Hridhu Haroon and Azees Nedumangad in key roles. Set in Mumbai, the Malayalam-language drama tells the story of three working women navigating personal and professional challenges. Nurse Prabha’s (Kani Kusruti) routine is shaken by an unexpected gift from her estranged husband, while her younger roommate Anu (Divya Prabha) seeks a private space for her relationship. Their intertwined journeys culminate in a transformative trip to a coastal town, where they find solace and closure.
