Futuristic superhero Bhairava embarks on new adventures with AI-driven ally Bujji and a fancy car in the latest trailer of Prime Video’s two-part animated series Bujji & Bhairava, a prequel to Nag Ashwin’s upcoming sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan.

According to makers, Prabhas has voiced Bhairava in the animated show, while Keerthy Suresh voice-stars as Bujji.

Dropped by the streamer on Thursday, the one-minute-39-second-long trailer opens with Bhairava sliding down roofs and railings to take down his adversaries. The following clip introduces Bhairava’s intricately engineered car emerging from a whirlpool of sand in a desert. Bujji, a detachable, pebble-like device with neon-lit eyes, which seems to be integral to the car, expresses excitement for their next mission. “I have waited many years for this promotion,” exclaims Bujji.

The video reveals that Bhairava, a bounty hunter, purchased the car to increase his bounty earnings. It seems he plans to visit a place called the ‘complex’. Together, Bhairava and Bujji tackle challenging tasks and overcome significant obstacles.

The video also introduces a new character voiced by Brahmanandam. It concludes with Bujji asking, "And what about our future, Bhairava?”, suggesting that their next adventures will be shown in Kalki 2898 AD.

Set in 2896 AD Kashi, Bujji & Bhairava depicts adventures that occurred two years before Kalki 2898 AD.

The official logline of the series reads, “It’s the year 2896, in the future city of Kasi, Bhairava is a bounty hunter with dreams of getting into the Complex, and BU-JZI, an AI pilot of a Cargo ship, waiting for her promotion. At their lowest point, these two unlikely souls find each other to set off a crackling story of ambition, adventure, partnership and mainly friendship.”

Produced by Green Gold Animation, known for the Chhota Bheem and Krishna series, Bujji & Bhairava is a part of the Kalki cinematic universe. A 52-second teaser previously released by Prime Video shows Bhairava and Bujji surprising children with a glimpse of their adventures in the animated series.

Touted as India’s first mytho-sci-fi animated series, Bujji & Bhairava will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on May 31.

The live action film Kalki 2898 AD, featuring Prabhas in the lead role alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani and Kamal Haasan, is slated to arrive in cinemas on June 27.
