BTS will return for group performances in 2025 after their mandatory service in the South Korean military, the K-pop boy band’s rapper Kim Namjoon a.k.a RM assured fans in a recent Weverse livestream.
“Eventually, when we get back and reunite in 2025, (we will) be back for sure. We’ll be joining together again. And that will be in 2025,” the 28-year-old rapper and writer said.
BTS had announced their hiatus in 2022 after their mandatory military enlistment. Since then, two band members, Jin and J-Hope have started serving in the military, while Suga recently initiated the enlistment procedure.
Ever since their military enlistment, the band members have been engaged in releasing solo albums. V, recently announced his debut solo album Layover, slated to release on September 8.
“Even though we’re doing solo activities on our own, I’m just thinking about how all this is just like a vacation. It is a very important journey for chapter two, but it’s a journey to get back home safely, as we return to where we were, which was BTS and ARMY,” he said.
RM has stated that while this has been a rewarding period for their personal growth as solo artists, all the seven members share a common goal to return as a group in 2025.
“I hope our songs and solo projects are a reminder that spring will come again. Please continue to keep BTS alive in your hearts, in this moment and perhaps throughout your entire life,” he said.
