BTS member J-Hope officially returned to civilian life on October 17 after serving in the South Korea military for 18 months, becoming the second band member to be discharged from compulsory military duties after Jin.
The 30-year-old rapper came out from the army base in his camo outfit, waving at the press, and was warmly welcomed by his bandmate Jin with a bouquet outside. The two also shared a hug.
Jin, who sported a maroon ensemble for his bandmate’s welcome ceremony, helped out J-Hope by holding a mic as the rapper delivered his discharge speech. J-Hope said, “First of all, thank you so much. I completed my service in good health. I'm really grateful. During my one year and six months of military life, I served as an instructor, so I went on many marches. Every time, I saw many citizens of Wonju. I want to convey my gratitude to the citizens of Wonju who always greeted me and supported me. It was very touching.”
“What I really felt over the past one year and six months is the immense dedication and hard work of the soldiers who protect our country. They are doing so much for the nation. I feel as if it will be meaningful to give those people warm interest and love,” he further added.
On the work front, J-Hope has hinted at a potential collaboration with Grammy-winning artist Pharrell Williams. He shared photos of himself with Williams on Instagram and wrote, “Can't wait for 2025.”
Jin, on the other hand, is gearing up for his upcoming single album Happy, which is slated to be released on November 15. The singer has released the tracklist of his album which will comprise six songs including I’ll Be There, Another Level, Running Wild, Heart on the Window, I Will Come to You and Falling.
Other members of BTS — RM, Suga, Jimin, V and Jungkook — are currently serving in the South Korean military and are supposed to reunite in 2025 for band activities.
