K-pop phenomenon BTS member J-Hope’s new single On The Street will be released on March 3, according to music agency BigHit Music.
The music label announced the song’s release date on Twitter and also on the band’s fan community forum Weverse.
On the community forum, BigHit Music issued a statement sharing details of the release of the song. The statement also said that J-Hope returns to his roots — street dancing — with the new single. “J-Hope wrote the track to share his candid feelings toward his fans,” the message says.
“The title On the street refers to J-hope’s roots — street dancing — from which his dream to become an artist began. The single also traces the path the artist and fans will continue to walk together,” the statement mentions.
“We hope that J-Hope’s On The Street serves as a meaningful gift to everyone who supports the artist. Please look forward to J-Hope's new song. Release date and time: 2pm, Friday, March 3, 2023 (KST),” it states.
The song will release in India at 10.30am on March 3.
BigHit Music also stated that J-Hope’s mandatory military enlistment would begin soon. However, it has not given any timeline for the enlistment. “We would like to inform our fans that J-hope has initiated the military enlistment process by applying for the termination of his enlistment postponement. We ask you for your continued love and support for J-hope until he completes his military service. Our company will spare no effort in providing support for our artist.”
After Jin, who has already served for two months, J-Hope will be the second member of BTS to enlist in the Korean army. All physically capable men must serve in the army for about two years in South Korea.
The South Korean parliament passed a bill in late 2020 that said citizens who “excel in popular culture and art” are allowed to postpone mandatory military service until the age of 30. However, BigHit Music issued a statement saying that all seven members of BTS would serve their compulsory military service.
In July last year, J-Hope released his first solo album titled Jack In The Box and was also the subject of a standalone documentary - J-Hope In The Box, which is currently streaming on Disney+Hotstar.
