BTS member J-Hope prepared yet-to-be-released content for fans before starting his mandatory military service on April 18 last year, the rapper-dancer revealed in his New Year note, recalling moments from 2023 and wishing fellow bandmate V on his birthday.

“This year, I think I worked and moved in a variety of ways, focusing clearly on the military. I wanted to show you things that I haven't been able to show you. I went to an award ceremony alone. I wanted to attend big shows in Paris,” J-Hope wrote on Weverse, adding how he wanted to “repay” BTS fans — known as ARMY — with a “big gift” before he enlisted in the military.

“I prepared contents that will make you feel warm while serving in the military,” J-Hope, affectionately called Hobi by fans, wrote.

He then wrote about how he wants to showcase a “great performance” for the ARMY as he misses them terribly. “All I can feel is that I want to show you a great performance as soon as possible, that's how much I miss you!”

Introspecting on the little things in life which he has started to value more since his military enlistment, the Butter rapper wrote, “Before bedtime, I think a lot and encounter various dreams. Things that were so natural and trivial became ideal. The day of faithfully completing the duty of national defence makes the start of 24 years stronger.”

After wishing his fans a happy new year, J-Hope ended his note by wishing BTS member V, known affectionately as Tae Taehyung, on his birthday celebrated on December 30. “💜 Happy birthday, Tae Taehyung 💜,” he wrote.

J-Hope released a solo track On The Street featuring American rapper J. Cole on March 3, 2023. He wrote the song to express his candid emotions to his fans and also to go back to his roots as a musician and street style dancer from where he began his journey as an artiste.

All members of BTS are currently serving in the military. Jimin began his mandatory duties on December 12, 2023 along with his fellow band member Jungkook. RM and V, while Jin had begun serving on December 13, 2022. J-Hope and Suga had started their duties on April 18 and September 22, respectively.
