BTS member Park Jimin’s digital single Closer Than This, touted as a track that encapsulates “his genuine feelings for ARMY (fans)”, is set to release on December 22, the K-pop band’s record label Big Hit Music announced on South Korean web platform Weverse on Wednesday.
“We are excited to announce the release of BTS member Jimin’s digital single, ‘Closer Than This’,” read the official statement. “Closer Than This with its lyrics conveying Jimin’s love and affection for his fans, will bring you hope and warmth,” it further read.
The post was also shared by Big Hit Music on X (formerly Twitter).
The agency took to Instagram to share the news with BTS ARMY. Posting a reel of Jimin dancing in a studio to the tunes of his upcoming single, they wrote, “love you so much my #Jimin.”
In the second sequence of the same video, another member of the band, V, joins Jimin. The two pose in front of a wall mirror before leaving the room.
Fans reacted enthusiastically to the video with one of them commenting, “Can't wait jiminshiii.” Another wrote, “I can’t wait for Jimin’s new single, it’s going to be amazing, another masterpiece. This little teaser sounds incredible.”
As of 2023, BTS is the best-selling music band in the history of the South Korean music industry, with over 40 million copies of their albums sold. Their songs, focussing on contemporary issues like mental health, bullying of school-going adolescents, loss, self-love and the bittersweet consequences of fame and recognition, have a wide fan base even in India.
The first fully English song of BTS, Dynamite (2021), had garnered over 8.6 million views in India in the first 24 hours of its release.
Jimin’s forthcoming digital single, Closer Than This, will be available for streaming in India from 10.30 am on December 22.
