Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) offers to teach his childhood friend Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) 'charms' that would help her feel at ease in the marriage mart in the new teaser video for Bridgerton Season 3, dropped by Netflix on Tuesday.

“Dear Reader, could this perhaps be the beginning of something,” the makers wrote on Instagram alongside the video, which begins with Colin proclaiming that he has changed and that he is very proud of his friendship with Penelope.

“I am not the man I was last season. And I am certainly not ashamed of you. I seek you out in every social assembly because I know you will lift my spirits and make me see the world in ways I could not have imagined. You are clever and warm, and I am proud to call you my very good friend,” Colin says to Penelope.

Penelope, however, admits that she is still struggling to find herself a husband. “Well, if a husband is what you seek, then... let me help you,” says Colin, adding that his travels have taught him charms and he can now pass on the lessons to his friend.

The third season of the popular Shondaland series will focus on Colin and Penelope’s gradual transition from friends to lovers. Its trailer, dropped by the makers on April 11, promised the return of many fan-favourite characters including Kate Bridgerton (Simone Ashley), Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathon Bailey) and Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel). The trailer also revealed some new additions — Daniel Francis, Sam Phillips and James Phoon and Hannah Dodd — to the cast.

The upcoming third instalment of the Regency-era drama series includes eight episodes that are split into two parts. The first four episodes will premiere on Netflix on May 16, while the next four will debut on June 13.

Based on the eponymous eight-book series by Julia Quinn, the first season of Bridgerton explored the love story between Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and her husband Simon, the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page). The next instalment followed an enemies-to-lovers theme, focusing on the budding romance between Viscount Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma.
