Bridgerton Season 3 is perhaps going to finally deliver what many of us have been waiting for — a full-blown romance between Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton.

The Season 3 teaser of the Shondaland period drama that Netflix dropped late on Thursday shows Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) passionately observing Colin’s (Luke Newton) eyes and making a remark that leaves the Bridgerton boy startled and reaching out for a sip.

“Your eyes… a most remarkable shade of blue. And yet somehow they shine even brighter when you are kind,” says Penelope to Colin, quickly adding that these would have her words had he been her suitor.

Season 3 will stream on Netflix in two parts — Part 1 from May 16 and Part 2 from June 13.

Bridgerton Season 2 had ended with Colin telling a group of high society men that he would never think of courting Penelope, unaware that she has always been in love with him. Though Colin had no intention of hurting the feelings of his childhood friend, Penelope appeared visibly devastated after overhearing the conversation.

Will the childhood friends stop at just locking eyes this time? Or, is it just the beginning of their journey towards romance and love?

To answer these questions in the spirit of Valentine’s Day, the makers of the Regency era drama are hosting a special fan event on February 14, which will have the series’ cast and creative team, along with the lead actors, Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton, stepping into the spotlight for a press interaction.

The trailer dropped by the makers in December last year also promised the return of many beloved characters including Queen Charlotte, Lady Danbury, Violet, Eloise Bridgerton and Penelope moonlighting as the infamous gossip writer Lady Whistledown.

Based on the eponymous eight-book series by Julia Quinn, Bridgerton stars Adjoa Andoh, Phoebe Dynevor, Regé-Jean Page, Golda Rosheuvel, Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley in key roles.
