Cate Blanchett teams up with Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis and Ariana Greenblatt to hunt for a massive treasure hidden inside a secret vault on the most chaotic planet in the galaxy in the official trailer of Eli Roth’s Borderlands adaptation, promising an authentic taste of mayhem and mischief from the popular video game franchise.
Dropped by Lionsgate on Wednesday, the action-packed trailer begins with Blanchett’s Lilith kicking a robot inside a vault to navigate the interiors.
As Blanchett’s Lilith, a badass bounty hunter, travels with her team of misfits through the rugged terrain of Planet Pandora, she confronts mythical creatures and an army of masked adversaries.
A number of humorous scenes, often featuring pee jokes and robotic diarrhoea, serve to lighten the mood of the trailer, which otherwise keeps us on the edge of our seats with its upbeat music, earth-shattering explosions and a relentless barrage of gunfire.
According to the official synopsis, Lilith and her team embark on a quest to unveil one of Pandora’s most volatile secrets. The destiny of the universe might rest in their hands, but they are fighting for something more profound — their bond with each other.
Borderlands is slated to hit theatres in the US on August 9.
