The first day of the Bengali New Year 1431 was marked by several announcements from Tollywood actors and makers. From Jeet’s sci-fi comedy Boomerang to Raj Chakrabarty’s romantic drama Babli and Kaushik Ganguly’s upcoming film Ajogya, here’s a quick look at the two teasers and a poster that dropped on Poila Baisakh.

Jeet teams up with Rukmini Maitra for Boomerang

Jeet will pair up with Rukmini Maitra in Sauvik Kundu’s upcoming sci-fi comedy Boomerang. The teaser, shared by the makers on Sunday, introduces Jeet as a brilliant scientist on the groundbreaking mission of creating humanoid robots, but his creation (Rukmini Maitra) unexpectedly takes on a life of its own, leading to a series of wacky adventures.

Alongside Jeet and Rukmini, Boomerang features Saurav Das, Debchandrima Singha Roy, Kharaj Mukherjee and Rajatava Dutta in key roles. The film from Jeetz Filmworks will hit theatres on June 7.

Abir Chatterjee to romance Subhashree Ganguly in Babli

Raj Chakraborty has turned to Buddhadeb Guha’s novel Babli for his next, set for an August 30 theatrical release. The love story will have Abir Chatterjee and Subhashree Ganguly sharing screen space in a romantic drama for the first time. The cast includes Sauraseni Maitra in a key role.

The teaser for Babli, unveiled on Poila Baisakh, follows forest officer Abhi Chowdhury, stationed in Manipur, who develops a connection with Damayanti aka Babli, a relative of his boss. Babli marks Subhashree’s return to the screen after the birth of her and Raj’s daughter, Yaalini, in December.

Ajogya: Prosenjit and Rituparna’s 50th film together

Tollywood stars Prosenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta, who have given several box-office hits through their decades-long career as a romantic pair, are collaborating on their 50th film together under Kaushik Ganguly’s direction, and the makers released the film’s official poster on Sunday.

Produced by Surinder Films, Ajogya is slated to hit theatres on June 7. The posters features a silhouette of the lead actors, with Prosenjit’s ink-stained thumb raised being the focus.

Prosenjit and Rituparna have previously worked together in Kaushik Ganguly’s 2018 legal thriller Drishtikone.
