A bucketful of unfiltered innocence, gallons of sweetness, bottles of honey, quintals of simplicity and a sackful of smiles are the basic ingredients of the hilariously delicious dessert seasoned with pure love called Laapataa Ladies. This special treat is earthy, rustic and a beautiful comical satire. The subtle blending of all the elements along with the adorable characters is heartwarming. The lovable film is non-preachy, non-dramatic, non-glamorous but wins your heart 100 per cent. You will deeply fall in love with all the characters for their pure uninhibited performances.
Ram Sampath’s soft hinterland songs make the recipe more delectable, especially the last Dheeme dheeme number. All three main leads have done a wonderful job though Pratibha Ranta’s Jaya is specially noteworthy. There are traces of feminism but those are not forced. The deep-seated misogynistic attitude and regressive mindset are already rooted in our society. The witty sarcasm infused beautifully with correct humour is to die for. Huge credits for the simple yet explosive dialogues. Ravi Kishan is undeniably a darling. He is a sunshine buddy and lights up the screen with his restrained performance. At times, you need such movies that restore your troubled heart and makes your hectic life a little better. My takeaways — a smiling heart and an overjoyed soul. Thank you Kiran Rao for this special dessert. Come fall in love with the film and keep your calories at bay to indulge in this sugar-coated caramelised cheesecake. Kiran Rao-directed Laapataa Ladies is a delightful movie. I hugely enjoyed watching it. The story was a good one and it was presented well. There are some completely unexpected twists in the tale which I liked immensely. The climax was also fulfilling. Most of the cast of the film were new faces and they all did great. These fresh actors must be lauded for their outstanding performances. Apart from them, Ravi Kishan’s act as a police officer named Manohar was a treat to watch as well. He was just amazing in that role. Overall, I loved this wonderful movie with a heartwarming message.
