Abir Chatterjee is set to play a cop in a film directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, reveals a first-look motion poster of his character from the director duo’s next Bengali movie Bohurupi, which is set to hit theatres during Durga Puja 2024.

The role of S.I. Sumanta Ghoshal in the upcoming movie marks Abir’s second collaboration with Nandita and Shiboprosad after last year’s Raktabeej, where the actor had played an intelligence officer alongside Mimi Chakraborty’s lady cop and Victor Banerjee’s president.

“Abir Chatterjee in a new look this Durga Puja after Raktabeej. S.I. Sumanta Ghoshal is coming to rock the big screen,” the makers wrote on the official X handle of Windows Production on Sunday.

Shiboprosad himself joins the cast of Bohurupi, which features Ritabhari Chakraborty and Koushani Mukherjee in key roles. The film also marks a reunion for Abir and Ritabhari, who previously shared screen space in Aritra Mukherjee’s 2023 drama Fatafati.

Bohurupi will go head-to-head with Srijit Mukherji’s Tekka at the box office this Durga Puja. Mukherji’s film marks his reunion with Dev with whom the filmmaker had last collaborated in Zulfiqar (2016). Tekka also stars Rukmini Maitra and Swastika Mukherjee in pivotal roles.
