After the success of Bodhon, director Aditi Roy is back with the second season of the Hoichoi series. Bodhon 2 is a continuation of professor Raka Sen’s journey but in a different situation.
The first season revolved around Shinjini, a college-goer who is raped, and professor Raka Sen — played by Sandipta Sen — who became her only source of hope and support during this trying period. Raka is a professor of economics who returned to Kolkata with a new job in a renowned college that she was once a part of. After rejoining, Raka began to face taunts from her colleagues for her choice of clothes. Things took a turn when one of her students, Shinjini (played by Ditipriya Roy) was gangraped.
Season 1 ended with Shinjini and her mother struggling with the aftermath of the incident, with only Raka by their side. The second season will show Raka in a warrior avatar in a different context, where she will need to fight for justice again but armed with weapons.
“Bodhon 2 is a first-of-its-kind show. This season, we see female-centric action sequences and physical fights. Sandipta worked extra hard while filming these action sequences and gave it her all. The action, the location, the story and the cast have all been crafted into one perfect concoction to keep the audience hooked to their screens,” said director Aditi Roy.
Sandipta was last seen in Aditi’s web series Noshtoneer, which received an overwhelming response from the audience. “I am filled with anticipation for Raka’s return in Bodhon 2 as she resumes her role as the voice of justice. Raka is a character who wears her heart on her sleeve and fearlessly speaks her mind. And this time, her actions carry even more weight,” Sandipta told us.
The awakening of Raka’s warrior side will be a homage to goddess Durga. “The filming process was notably more demanding this time as Indrasish (Roy) and I have done all the action sequences, which required thorough physical preparation,” she added.
Also starring Koushik Roy, Bodhon 2 is slated to stream on Hoichoi this October.
