Blackpink member Lisa’s upcoming track Rockstar will release on June 28 (IST), marking her comeback to the music scene after a three-year gap, the South Korean rapper-singer announced on Tuesday.
Sharing a poster of the new track, the Money singer wrote, “Lisa Rockstar…Thursday 6/27 @ 8 PM ET…5 PM PT…Friday 6/28…7 AM TH/9 AM KR.”
On February 8, Lisa launched her own artist management company LLOUD following her departure from YG Entertainment for solo ventures. She also signed a solo partnership with RCA Records to create new music.
Earlier this year, the Thai singer-rapper had hinted at the release of a new album by the end of 2024. When a fan asked during a Q&A session about her plans for this year, Lisa said, “This year, album. No matter what, I want to release a new album this year.”
In March this year, Lisa was spotted at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in a casual outfit, revelling in various music performances. Blackpink created history in 2023 by emerging as the first K-pop band to headline the music festival.
Belonging to the four-member band, Lisa is the first female solo artist in Korean music history to win the best K-pop artist title for her music video Lalisa at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2022.
Lisa dropped her debut single album Lalisa in September 2021 and emerged as the first female K-pop artist to sell 7,36,000 copies of an album in the first week of release in South Korea. Her Lalisa music video garnered over 700 million views on YouTube, cementing her position as the first female K-pop solo artiste to achieve this milestone.
On November 22, 2023, the four Blackpink members — Lisa, Jennie, Rose and Jisoo — were conferred with the title of Honorary Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by King Charles for their role as COP26 Advocates at the United Nations Climate Summit, which was held in Glasgow in 2021.
