A still from the drama features Jisoo staring at something at a distance with a frantic look on her face. Another picture shows two soldiers standing in front of a blood-splattered wall and panicking during a zombie attack.

Adapted from Han Sang Woon’s novel Influenza, Newtopia is scheduled for a 2025 premiere. Also starring Kim Joon Han, the zombie thriller was previously named after Sang Woon’s book.

Set in an air defence unit in Seoul, the drama follows a soldier named Jae Yoon (Park Jung Min) and his girlfriend Yeong Ju (Jisoo), who break up on the same day a zombie apocalypse takes over the world. The couple, who get separated from each other inside the military area, battle the zombies single-handedly in order to reunite once again.

Newtopia is directed by Yoon Sung-Hyun, who previously helmed crime thrillers and dramas like Time to Hunt, Bleak Night and Jury. The script is penned by A Shop for Killers writer Ji Ho Jin in collaboration with Han Jin Won, who previously worked on the Oscar-winning film Parasite and Okja.
