Blackpink member Rosé dropped the music video of her new single, Number One Girl, on Friday, which has so far fetched over a million views on YouTube.
The three-minute-38-second video that Rosé has directed herself features her on an empty road and skate park at night, singing about changing herself for her beloved and asking him to return her love. ‘So what’s it gonna take for you to want me, I’d give it all up if you told me, That I’d be, The number one girl in your eyes,’ she croons. The video is inspired by ’90s American pop music in terms of visuals, delivery and stylisation.
Rosé’s last released single was APT., produced in collaboration with Bruno Mars, and it made waves in the global music industry. The track got 25.24 million views on YouTube within the first 24 hours and 21.1 million streams in a week on YouTube Music Korea, and broke BTS member Jimin’s record of 14.59 million streams on Spotify in a single day, the highest ever for a K-pop artist.
APT. has also spent a fourth week at No. 1 on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. US charts. The track’s music video also achieved the milestone of becoming the fastest video to cross 100 million views on YouTube in 2024.
Earlier in October, Rosé had announced a new chapter in her music career, to be marked by the release of her second solo album, Rosie, on December 6. Her debut solo album, R, had released in 2021.
All the members of Blackpink — Lisa, Jennie, Rosé and Jisoo — last appeared together in the music video of their 2022 single Shut Down, which went on to top the Billboard Global 200.
