Debutante Anjini Dhawan’s Binny and her grandfather (played by Pankaj Kapoor) grapple with misunderstandings and conflicts arising from generational gap in the trailer of Ssanjay Tripaathy’s upcoming film Binny And Family.
Dropped by Balaji Motion Pictures on Friday, the two-minute-39-second-long trailer opens with Binny leading a carefree and rebellious life with her parents (Rajesh Kumar and Charu Shankar) in London. However, her world is turned upside down when her grandparents (Pankaj Kapoor and Himani Shivpuri) arrive from the small town of Bettiah in Bihar to spend two months with them.
What follows is a series of events that underscore the generation gap between Binny and her grandparents, much to her frustration. For example, her grandmother, unaware of current fashion trends, mends her ripped jeans, while her grandfather objects to her late-night outings and is shocked by her music choices.
As Binny feels increasingly constrained, tensions rise, leading to clashes with her grandparents and her father, whom she accuses of being afraid of her grandfather.
The trailer offers a fresh take on the age-old issue of intergenerational conflict, highlighting how a lack of communication exacerbates the problem.
Binny And Family marks the Bollywood debut of Varun Dhawan’s niece Anjini.
The film is presented by Balaji Telefilms and Mahaveer Jain in association with Shashank Khaitan and Mrighdeep Singh Lamba. Neetu M Jain, Ravi Dosh, A. Jhunjhunwala, SK Ahluwalia, Gaurav Bhavdankar, Anushree Shah Patel and Natasha Malpani Oswal serve as the producers.
Lalit Pandit has scored the music for the coming-of-age drama, edited by Sourabh Prabhudesai.
Binny And Family is slated to hit theatres on September 20.
