American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish’s third studio album Hit Me Hard and Soft will come out on May 17, she announced on Monday alongside a cover picture of the album.

“So crazy to be writing this right now I’m nervyyyyy & exciteddd,” the Bad Guy singer wrote on Instagram. She also announced that she is looking forward to releasing a full-fledged album on May 17 instead of dropping singles ahead of its release. “Not doing singles I wanna give it to you all at once :PPP Finneas and I truly could not be more proud of this album and we absolutely can’t wait for you to hear it,” Billie added.

The album cover shared by Billie shows her underwater in a dark blue dress. She is barefoot and looks like she does not want to be saved. A white door appears at the top from where she must have fallen.

Fans flooded the comment section, expressing their excitement about the upcoming album. “NEXT LEVEL VISUALS WITH A NEXT LEVEL SOUND,” commented music video director Cole Walliser.

Set to chill beats and Billie’s voice at the end, a short clip shared by the singer before the announcement shows her falling into the water and a man’s hand pulling her out of it.

Billie’s Barbie song What Was I Made For with her brother Finneas bagged the Academy Award for best music (original song) at this year’s Oscars. Besides that, the duo worked together on the 2021 song Happily Ever After.

What Was I Made For marks the brother-sister duo’s second Oscar win after their first in 2022 for the James Bond theme song No Time To Die. The song also bagged the Best Original Song Award at the 81st Golden Globes.
