American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish has emerged as the most-streamed artist on Spotify with over 10 crore monthly listeners, she announced on Tuesday.

“Number 1 in the world on spotify I really can’t even believe this. I love you all so much this is the craziest thing ever,” the 22-year-old pop singer wrote on Instagram.

The top spot was previously held by singer The Weeknd. On August 16, Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd expressed his support for Eilish as she was nearing the peak position on the global chart. “Let’s go,” he wrote, retweeting an X post which noted that Eilish was 1 million followers away from overtaking him.

Apart from becoming the No. 1 artist on Spotify, Eilish’s latest album Hit Me Hard and Soft also grabbed the top spot on the music platform’s Top Albums Global chart recorded between August 12 to 15. Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department and Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess have been ranked at the second and third positions, respectively.

Eilish has become the third and youngest artist to achieve this feat following The Weeknd and Taylor Swift. Eight of her songs including Lovely, Bad Guy, When the Party’s Over, Everything I Wanted, Ocean Eyes, Happier Than Ever, Idontwannabeyouanymore and Bury a Friend have over a billion streams on Spotify.

Eilish’s third studio album Hit Me Hard and Soft, which was released globally in April, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. Her debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? and its follow-up Happier Than Ever topped the chart for three weeks.
