Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s estranged wife Aaliya Siddiqui was evicted from Bigg Boss OTT 2 on Tuesday following an unexpected mid-week eviction on the Salman Khan-hosted reality show, streaming on JioCinema.

Aaliya was evicted following a ‘takeover’ by the audience on the JioCinema app where viewers were asked to cast their votes to save their favourite contestant.

Aaliya, who was nominated alongside Jiya Shankar for eviction this week, became the third contestant to be eliminated from the reality show after Puneet Superstar and Palak Purswani.

At the grand premiere of Bigg Boss OTT 2, Aaliya said that she wanted to be part of the show to tell the world that she was more than just a “star wife”. She also intended to improve her image. Aaliya acknowledged that although she is also a producer, her legal disputes with Nawazuddin have overshadowed her professional endeavours.

However, her stay inside the Bigg Boss house was riddled with challenges. In the first nomination task of the season, she got into a skirmish with astrologer Bebika Dhurve after she nominated the latter for eviction. In another task where Bigg Boss asked housemates to name a contestant who seemed fake to them, house captain Falak Naaz took her name, which led to Aaliya being sent to BB jail.

Earlier this week, Aaliya engaged in a war of words with Pooja Bhatt during the nomination task. Pooja advised Aaliya to stop portraying herself as a victim. Pooja mentioned that many women, including herself, have experienced the breakdown of their marriages but have moved forward.

Show host Salman had also reprimanded Aaliya during Weekend Ka Vaar last week for discussing her personal life inside the house.
