Actor Kartik Aaryan on Monday said that a follow-up to his 2022 romantic thriller Freddy could be on the cards.

Marking two years of the Shashanka Ghosh directorial, for which he had to gain 14 Kg bodyweight, Kartik said the quest to explore more of Freddy’s world is far from over.

“The search and quest to explore more of Freddy’s world is far from over. Thank you for showering so much love on your Dr. Freddy. This journey has been unforgettable, and who knows… the best might still be yet to come,” read a portion of his note on Instagram shared alongside stills and videos from the film.

Working on Freddy was a rollercoaster of ‘emotions and madness’, Kartik said.

“Ek joke sunao - I Still Love You,” Kartik wrote, alluding to a popular dialogue from the film, which revolves around the story of a socially awkward, introverted dentist named Freddy Ginwala.

“Two years of #Freddy, and the joy of living this ‘twisted’ lover boy still feels as electrifying as ever! Transforming into Freddy was no small feat- gaining 14 kgs to embody his vanilla yet hauntingly complex life was just the beginning. This character took me on a rollercoaster of emotions and madness, and honestly, he’s still screaming for his story to continue,” he added.

Set against a bleak, urban backdrop, the romantic thriller premiered on Disney+ Hotstar on December 2, 2022. The movie follows the story of Freddy Ginwala, a socially awkward, introverted dentist struggling with loneliness and emotional issues. His life takes a dark turn when he meets Kainaaz (Alaya F), a woman trapped in an abusive marriage.

Fans flooded the comments section with their love for the film. “2 Years of #Freddy Time flies one of My Most favourite films really hoping for a Sequel of this,” one of them wrote. “Best acting movie of you alongwith chandu champion,” wrote another.

Kartik is currently basking in the success of his latest release Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which amassed Rs 422.31 cr nett at the Global Box Office following its release on November 1.
