Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has launched a music label named after himself, his production banner Bhansali Productions confirmed on Thursday, sharing a logo of the new venture on social media.
Bhansali Music aims to share with the world “the great joy and peace” that music brings to Bhansali, the Instagram post mentions.
“Music brings me great joy and peace. It’s an integral part of my being. I am now launching my own music label ‘Bhansali Music’,” Bhansali wrote on Instagram alongside the logo of his music label.
“I wish the audience to experience the same joy and spiritual connect that I feel when I listen to or create music,” he mentioned in his post.
Other than being one of the most respected filmmakers in Bollywood, Bhansali is also known for composing the music of some of his films, including the 2018 blockbuster Padmaavat, whose soundtrack earned him the National Award for Best Music Direction.
Bhansali Music will reportedly start its journey with the music album of Netflix series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, which will serve as the 61-year-old filmmaker’s OTT debut.
Dropped by the makers early last month, the Heeramandi teaser promised haunting music, which is in line with the soundtrack of other Bhansali films like Devdas (2002), Guzaarish (2010), Bajirao Mastani (2015) and Padmaavat.
Billed as an epic saga of love, power and freedom, Heeramandi is set in the palatial bungalows and bylanes of colonial Pakistan’s largest red-light district. The series, starring Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hyadri, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Sharmin Segal and Richa Chadha in key roles, is slated to premiere on Netflix later this year.
