Bhumi Pednekar’s fearless journalist Vaishali Singh is determined to leave no stone unturned in her quest for justice for young girls at a shelter home in Munawwarpur, Uttar Pradesh, in a teaser of Netflix’s upcoming crime thriller Bhakshak.
The streaming platform dropped the minute-long teaser on Thursday, providing a glimpse into Vaishali's relentless efforts to expose a heinous crime in the face of stiff opposition from her adversaries.
The first digital production of Red Chillies Entertainment in a couple of years after Alia Bhatt’s Darlings in 2022, Bhakshak also features Aditya Srivastava, Sanjay Mishra and Sai Tamhankar in key roles.
The teaser video shows Bhumi’s Vaishali investigating the dark truth behind Bansi Sahu’s shelter home for girls. The narrative, inspired by true incidents, is a chilling exploration of sexual abuse suffered by women in institutions constituted apparently for their protection.
The video ends with the dauntless journalist reiterating her greatest responsibility and toughest challenge – she is fighting for the rights of little girls.
Bhumi, last seen in Karan Boolani’s sex comedy Thank You For Coming, recently shared a poster of Bhakshak on social media, unveiling its release date. “Meet Vaishali Singh, a force to be reckoned with, as she battles against the powerful,” wrote the 34-year-old actress on Instagram on Thursday.
Helmed by Pulkit, the film is slated to premiere on Netflix on February 9.
Bhakshak is jointly produced by Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma.
