Ben Affleck and his crew gatecrash Jennifer Lopez’s recording session to croon the song Don’t Dunk Away at My Heart in a new video shared by the Hollywood couple on Monday as part of Dunkin Donut’s Super Bowl advertisement series.
The one-minute-long video starts off with singer Jack Harlow sitting in a car with Affleck, trying to dissuade the actor from what he is about to do. The Air actor tells the Lovin on Me singer that he has to do it as Lopez had showed up to the drive-through where Affleck was working in the 2023 Dunkin Super Bowl ad.
Lopez is shown recording her upcoming album This Is Me…Now in her music studio. Her assistant tells her that her husband has arrived. However, the superstar is startled when the actor barges into the studio dressed in a pink-white-and-orange tracksuit with his ‘DunKings’ entourage.
He introduces American football player Tom Brady on the keyboard and his “partner” Matt Damon. While Brady seems to be on board with Affleck’s plan, his Air co-star Damon, making his reluctance clear, says, “Sometimes it’s really hard to be your friend.”
Affleck continues to sing the song Don’t Dunk Away at My Heart. At the end Damon apologetically drops the line, “How do you like them donuts.”
Lopez, accompanied by rapper Fat Joe, rejects her husband’s desire to have the song on her ninth studio album. Dejected, the DunKings start to leave when Lopez tells Brady that he can stay.
The ad ends with Damon and Affleck walking away as the former tells his friend of over 40-years, “Remember when I told you I’d do anything for you? This is anything.”
Affleck and Oppenheimer actor Damon have been friends since their childhood after they met in the 1980s. From living in the same neighborhood of Cambridge, Massachusetts the duo went on to co-star in nine movies together including Good Will Hunting which they co-wrote as well.
The relationship between Affleck and Lopez spans over decades as well. The two initially dated in the early 2000s. They were engaged but called off their wedding in 2003. Rekindling their romance in 2021, the couple had a Vegas wedding in 2022.
