A diverse mix of films of different genres are hitting cinemas this Friday. Here’s everything you need to know about them.

Bad Boys: Die or Ride (English)

Bad Boys: Ride or Die is the fourth movie in the Bad Boys franchise. After 2020’s Bad Boys for Life (2020), this buddy cop action comedy will bring back detectives Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) as they delve into corruption within the Miami police department. Their investigation begins when their deceased captain Conrad Howard (Joe Pantoliano) is posthumously linked with Romanian mafia. However, they soon find themselves framed and are compelled to go on the run.

Munjya (Hindi)

Directed by: Aditya Sarpotdar

Cast: Sharvari, Mona Singh, Abhay Verma and Sathyaraj

Helmed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Munjya is a horror comedy based on folklore in the Konkan region. According to the lore, young boys who die after their upanayana ceremony become ghosts and are known as Munjya. While Munjyas are not harmful, they may attack anyone who defiles their tree-homes. In this film, Abhay Verma’s character is possessed by such a spirit. He struggles to make the world believe that the mischiefs happening around him are not his doing. Mona Singh plays his mother and Sharvari plays his romantic partner in the movie.

Ajogyo (Bengali)

Cast: Prosenjit Chatterjee, Rituparna Sengupta, Shilajit Majumder, Lily Chakraborty, Ambarish Bhattacharya

Prosenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna pair up for the 50th time on screen for Kaushik Ganguly’s relationship drama Ajogyo. The story revolves around Raktim Majumdar (Shilajit Majumder), a bank employee, and his wife Parna (Rituparna Sengupta). Their lives take a dramatic turn when Raktim loses his job, prompting Parna to take up a job at an investment firm. The plot thickens with the entry of Prosen (Prosenjit Chatterjee), Parna’s former lover, into their lives, complicating their family dynamics.

Boomerang (Bengali)

Cast: Jeet, Rukmini Maitra, Saurav Das, Debchandrima Singha Roy, Kharaj Mukherjee and Rajatava Dutta

Helmed by Sauvik Kundu, Boomerang is a sci-fi comedy headlined by Jeet and Rukmini Maitra. Jeet plays Subarna Sen, a robotics scientist who accidentally creates a female humanoid robot named NISHA (Rukmini). Incidentally, NISHA looks exactly like Subarna’s wife Isha. A series of misunderstandings ensue as Subarna’s family finds it hard to differentiate NISHA and Isha, leading to hilarious situations.

Malhar (Hindi, Marathi)

Cast: Shrinivas Pokale, Vinayak Potdar, Sharib Hashmi and Anjali Patil

Vishal Kubhar’s Malhar explores the enduring power of friendship, selfless love and trust in relationships. The trailer hints that the film weaves together three interconnected tales set in a village of Kutch. The first story follows two best friends on a mission to fix a broken hearing aid. The second narrative explores the relationship of a Hindu boy and a Muslim girl, highlighting their struggles to maintain their love. The third story focuses on the infidelity of a newlywed woman.
