A long-haired, beard-sporting Varun Dhawan sits on a throne of guns and watches the world burn in the first-look teaser of Jawan director Atlee’s upcoming film Baby John, dropped by the makers on Monday.

Shared by JioStudios, the one-minute-five-second-long teaser hints at a gory thriller, inspired by Indian mythologies. With parallel close-up shots of Varun’s eyes and a Kathakali dancer’s face, the video accompanied by the sound of loud beating drums makes viewers anticipate the thrill and rush of the film.

As the dancer performs in the arena engulfed by flames in front of Varun, the latter is seen throwing a bird into the fire. Varun sits on a throne of weaponry and watches the dancer dance mightily amid the fire.

“Unveiling the Biggest Action Entertainer of the year 2024 #BabyJohn starring #VarunDhawan, #KeerthySuresh & #WamiqaGabbi releasing on 31st May in cinemas,” filmmaker Atlee, whose wife Priya Atlee has produced the film with Jyoti Deshpande and Murad Khetani, wrote on X alongside a poster which shows a gun-wielding Varun in a John Wick-like character.

The poster shows a shirtless Varun pointing a gun at his enemy amidst heavy rains. Varun’s look might remind one of Keanu Reeves’ character from the Hollywood blockbuster film franchise John Wick.

Also starring Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, Jackie Shroff and Rajpal Yadav, Baby John is directed by A. Kaleeswaran.

Baby John is Atlee’s second Bollywood movie after debuting with his smashing hit Jawan last year starring Shah Rukh Khan and marks his first collaboration with Varun.

Varun was last seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s action-romance film Bawaal alongside Janhvi Kapoor. The actor made his debut with Karan Johar’s 2012 film Student of the Year which also starred Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra.
