Babil Khan, Wamiqa Gabbi review Alia Bhatt-backed Poacher: ‘Honest and impactful’

The Richie Mehta-directed series premiered on Amazon Prime Video on February 23

Actors Babil Khan and Wamiqa Gabbi have heaped praise on Alia Bhatt-backed Amazon Prime Video crime thriller Poacher, calling it “immersive”, “impactful” and “fantastic”.

“Just fantastic ❤️ in awe of the work by @dibyenduofficial , @nimisha_sajayan , @roshan.matthew and the rest of the absolutely wonderful cast. Brilliant,” Babil wrote alongside a shot of Dibyendu Bhattacharya from the series. Praising director Richie Mehta, The Railway Men actor added, “@richie.mehta strikes again.”

Babil made his acting debut with the Netflix film Qala opposite Triptii Dimri in 2022. The actor was last seen in Shiv Rawail’s web series The Railway Men, currently streaming on Netflix. The show, which also stars R. Madhavan, Divyendu Sharma and Kay Kay Menon in key roles, marked Babil’s web series debut.

Khufiya actress Wamiqa Gabbi called Poacher “honest and impactful” in an Instagram post. “A crime thriller so honest and impactful! So so immersive, just not able to come out of its experience,” the 30-year-old actress wrote alongside a still of Roshan Matthew from the series.

Poacher revolves around a team of NGO workers and forest officials who embark on a mission to bust a multi-trillion dollar ivory smuggling racket amidst rampant elephant poaching in Kerala.

Helmed by director Richie Mehta, known for his Emmy Award-winning Netflix series Delhi Crime starring Shefali Shah, Poacher also stars Kani Kusruti, Ankith Madhav, Suraj Pops, Ranjita Menon, Vinod Sherawat and Snoop Dinesh.

Johan Aidt has worked on the cinematography of the series, while Andrew Lockington has composed the music for the show. Also produced by QC Entertainment, Suitable Pictures and Poor Man’s Productions, Poacher premiered on Amazon Prime Video on February 23.
