Azaad teaser, dropped on Tuesday, introduces Ajay Devgn as a fierce warrior in a historical drama featuring two debutantes — Ajay’s nephew Aaman Devgan and Raveena Tandon’s daughter Rasha Thadani.

Dropped by RSVP Movies, the one-minute-47-second-long teaser opens with a horse-borne Ajay facing off against his enemies while a voiceover narrates stories about Rajput king Maharana Pratap’s valour during the Battle of Haldighati.

When Maharana Pratap confronted a rival army of 40,000 with only 9,000 soldiers, his most loyal ally in the fight was his courageous horse, the voiceover says.

Subsequent scenes showcase Ajay’s bond with his loyal horse.

The trailer also includes flashbacks depicting how Ajay’s character first bonded with his brave companion. Ajay’s nephew Aaman portrays a young warrior in the film. Raveena Tandon’s daughter Rasha stars as Aaman’s love interest. A brief dance sequence offers a glimpse of the crackling on-screen chemistry between the two newcomers.

The video closes by emphasising the deep bond between the warriors and their horses.

Abhishek Kapoor, known for movies like Rock On!! (2008), Kai Po Che (2013) and Kedarnath (2018), has directed the film, slated to hit theatres in January next year.

Amit Trivedi has scored the music for Azaad, produced by Ronnie Screwvala, Pragya Kapoor, Abhishek Nayyar and Abhishek Kapoor.

On the work front, Ajay Devgn is currently riding high on the success of Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again, which has already earned over Rs 139 crore at the domestic box office, according to industry data-tracking site Sacnilk.
