Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Pandey’s Dream Girl 2 witnessed a decent opening with Rs 9.7 crore, missing the double-digit mark at the box office by a whisker.
The Raaj Shaandilyaa-helmed romantic comedy emerged as the eighth-highest opener among Bollywood films in 2023. Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan (Rs 55 crore nett) tops the list, followed by Sunny Deol-starrer Gadar 2 (Rs 40.10 crore nett), Prabhas-starrer Adipurush (Rs 37 crore nett), Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (Rs 15.81 crore nett) and Ranbir Kapoor’s Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (Rs 15.73 crore). Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt-starrer Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (Rs 11.10 crore nett) and Ajay Devgn’s Bholaa (Rs 10.50 crore nett) are also on that list.
On the other hand, Nushratt Bharuccha’s Akelli, which released on August 25 alongside Dream Girl 2, failed to make a mark at the box office. It managed to mint a meagre Rs 0.20 crore nett on the opening day and now looks forward to some much-needed boost over the weekend.
