New films —Hindi, English and Bengali— releasing in theatres on Friday offer a mix of action, drama and edge-of-the-seat thriller for the audiences to choose from. Here’s a look at the movies you can watch in theatres this weekend.

An Action Hero (Hindi)

Cast: Ayushmann Khurrana, Jaideep Ahlawat, Mirabel Stuart and Hiten Patel

Superstar action hero Maanav (Ayushmann Khurrana), who became a youth icon at an young age of 30, gets caught up in an accident while shooting in Haryana and is forced to live in hiding after a person loses his life. But a relative (Jaideep Ahlawat) of the deceased man traces Maanav to his hideout in order to settle scores. A cat-and-mouse game ensues in this action-packed thriller that sheds light on the fickle nature of stardom.

Khela Jawkhon (Bengali)

Cast: Mimi Chakraborty, Arjun Chakrabarty, Harsh Chhaya, Barun Chanda, Susmita Chatterjee and Alakananda Ray

Urmi (Mimi Chakraborty) is unable to recollect any of her past memories after an accident, She is told that she lost her son in the mishap but she claims to have sighted him on several occasions. As her husband (Arjun Chakrabarty) and in-laws help her deal with the trauma, Urmi begins to question her own reality.

Subho Bijoya (Bengali)

Cast: Churni Ganguly, Kaushik Ganguly, Bonny Sengupta, Devtanu and Koushani Mukherjee

The film revolves around a joint family in north Kolkata that comes together once a year to celebrate Durga Puja. As members of the family move away from each other and get engrossed in their personal lives, an unforeseen incident brings them closer. The family is forced to introspect about their interpersonal relationships during the four days of festivities.

Devotion (English)

Directed by: J.D. Dillard

Cast: Jonathan Majors, Glen Powell, Joe Jonas, Daren Kagasoff, Serinda Swan, Nick Hargrove and Spencer Neville

An adaptation of the 2015 bestselling novel Devotion: An Epic Story of Heroism, Friendship, and Sacrifice by Adam Mako, this war drama tells the inspirational story of Jesse Brown (Jonathan Majors), the first Black aviator of the US Navy, and his bond with fighter pilot Tom Hudner (Glen Powell). Their heroic sacrifices during the Korean War forms the crux of the film.

Violent Night (English)

Directed by: Tommy Wirkola

Cast: David Harbour, John Leguizamo, Alex Hassell, Alexis Louder, Cam Gigandet and Beverly D'Angelo

A team of mercenaries, led by Scrooge (John Leguizamo), lay siege on the estate of a wealthy family on Christmas Eve. However, they are unprepared for an unlikely opponent, a warrior-like Santa Claus (David Harbour), who must take on this group of hired assassins to save Christmas.
