Ayushmann Khurrana congratulates wife Tahira Kashyap on release of her debut feature film Sharmajee Ki Beti

Actor Ayushmann Khurrana congratulated his wife Tahira Kashyap Khurrana for the release of her maiden feature film Sharmajee Ki Beti on Friday with a note and throwback pictures on social media.

Calling Sharmajee Ki Beti as a story that tugs at the heartstrings, Ayushmann went on to praise Tahira for her fighting spirit she had shown during the making of the film. “You fought through the most difficult time of your life during the journey of this film. Maybe this is why Sharmajee Ki Beti is such a heart-tugging story,” he wrote in the note.

Ayushmann highlighted how Tahira had overcome significant challenges during the filming of Sharmajee Ki Beti. “You have always been a born writer/director since our theatre days... now it’s for the world to see how amazing you are,” he mentioned.

The 39-year-old actor also congratulated the entire cast and crew of Sharmajee Ki Beti, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video on June 28.

The Instagram carousel includes a childhood picture of Tahira with her parents Yajan Kashyap and Anita Kashyap, a framed photo of Ayushmann hugging his wife, a picture of Tahira holding their children’s hands, and several stills of Tahira reviewing shots during the filming of the movie. “Ayushmann Khurrana, a.k.a, Tahira’s husband” reads the last slide.

Starring Sakshi Tanwar, Divya Dutta, Vanshika Taparia, Arista Mehta and Saiyami Kher, Sharmajee Ki Beti is presented by Applause Entertainment and produced by Ellipsis Entertainment. It also features Sharib Hashmi, Parvin Dabas and Ravjeet Singh.

Tahira made her directorial debut in 2017 with the short film Toffee. Her next directorial project was Zindagi inShort (2020), an anthology of seven stories about seven different people and their ordinary lives. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018 and declared cancer-free in 2020.
