The Avatar (2009) sequel has also emerged as the seventh-biggest grosser of all time worldwide by collecting USD 1.7 billion, as per Box Office Mojo. Cameron’s 2009 visual epic Avatar currently holds the number one position with USD 2.9 billion. The 1997 romantic tragedy Titanic is third in the list with USD 2.2 billion in lifetime earnings.

Last week, Avatar: The Way of Water beat Tom Cruise-starrer Top Gun: Maverick (USD 1.48 billion) to become the highest grossing movie of 2022. It also beat the lifetime collections of Furious 7 (USD 1.515 billion), The Avengers (USD 1.518 billion), The Lion King (USD 1.66 billion) and Jurassic World (USD 1.67 billion).
