Asur is one of the best thrillers I have watched. I loved watching both seasons. Everyone who watched Season 1 was keenly waiting for Season 2 to know who Shubh Joshi, that is, Asur is. Asur is a proper blend of thrill with mythology as Shubh believes himself to be Asur Kali and wants to challenge Kalki. I must say the three-year wait was worth it as the assumptions of Rasool Sheikh being Shubh was wrong. Dhananjay Rajpoot, played by Arshad Warsi, is perhaps the most strong, clever and powerful character, although he is to be blamed partially for Shubh becoming Asur. If he wouldn’t have taken the lead it wouldn’t have been possible for anyone else to find Shubh. I loved the character of forensic expert Nikhil Nair, played by Barun Sobti. The character is very humane. He is an expert at his work and has great intuitive powers. It is very sad to see him as a depressed and broken father who had to sacrifice his daughter to save the life of the hostages. But the character that has stolen the show is the younger Shubh Joshi, played by Vishesh Bansal. I had seen him as a child artiste some years ago in the show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? I have become a fan of his poker-faced expressions. His dialogue delivery is excellent. He is very talented, otherwise it wouldn’t have been so easy to play the heartless monster with such ease. Asur is successful in unveiling the monstrous side of each human being at different stages. In Season 1, the fight between Radhika, Neeraj and Umar, the three hostages, for survival, showed their hostile side. In Season 2, people who accepted Anant, the 11-year-old boy, as a God and started worshipping him and were ready to sacrifice his life to save themselves from the explosion. Season 2 hints about the birth of a new Asur. Brinda may be giving birth to the new Asur in season 3. Also, it will be interesting to know who Kalki is, as the whole story of Anant being a God was fabricated. The makers of Asur have done a great job. Eagerly waiting for the third season. ‘Asur’ in every language means, demon. It is not necessary that demons only exist in traditional folklore but also walk around us, impatient to plot and execute their evil plans. Starring Arshad Warsi, the successful web series Asur is a brilliant amalgamation of mythology, thrill and suspense. Its eyecatching cinematography and top-notch dialogues made me a fan of this show. Against the backdrop of the fervent devotion in Varanasi, two extremely gifted and expert forensic experts Dhananjay Rajpoot and Nikhil Nair team up to unravel the mystery behind the mysterious murders. They work their fingers to the bone to catch this brutal predator along with dealing with their personal lives and stunning revelations. Both seasons literally blew my mind, compelling me to crave more. The show is all about comprehending the grey shades and exercising caution as far as possible. The show ticks every parameter of excellence effortlessly. A cracker of a show! Aayman Anwar Ali
I am genuinely a fan of the Asur web series. I am watching Season 2 with great interest and waiting every week for a new episode. This is the kind of show that stuns you, again and again, and comes up with a newer twist at the corner of every new twist, fresher evidence at the corner of every fresh evidence, and does a good job. With all these storytelling techniques, Asur is a thumping success. It has superb mythological angles along with breathtaking cliffhangers. The connection of misinterpretation of mythology with crime and killings is amazing. Set against the backdrop of the mystical city of Varanasi, Asur follows Nikhil Nair, a forensic-expertturned-teacher, who returns to his roots at the Central Bureau of Investigation, and along with his former mentor Dhananjay Rajpoot, finds himself caught in a cat-and-mouse game with a brutal serial killer. What follows is a blend of suspense, mythology and the murders of some people totally unrelated to one another. Bipasa Gain
I watched the first season of Asur in the lockdown after one of my friends recommended it. The mind-blowing show entertained me so much that I instantly became a fan. And here I am mentioning the main reasons which according to me made the show an immensely popular one among the viewers and made them, including me, Asur fans. First, obviously because of its thrilling, suspenseful and entertaining storyline. Secondly, for the extraordinary performances of Barun Sobti and Arshad Warsi. Thirdly, for the gripping climax of that season, which stunned me totally. As the second season of the show is already streaming now, I plan to watch it as soon as possible. I am sure that this fresh season will also be an engaging one and entertain me hugely just like the earlier season. Sourish Misra
