Aakash Aath recently launched Ashapurna Devi’s Agnipariksha as the story to be aired in the series, Sahityer Shera Somoy. “With Sahityer Sera Somoy we are adapting iconic classics from Bengali literature for our audience. The response has been extremely encouraging. As most of such stories have been immortalised even on the silver screen earlier, the challenge is humongous for us to recreate the story and present it in such a manner that the audience representing the current generation also enjoys watching it. We are quite upbeat with the choice of actors,” said Eshita Surana Poddar and Priyanka Surana Bardia, directors, Aakash Aath.

Agnipariksha is directed by Bijoy Jana. Promita Bhattacharya has penned the dialogues and has also written the script.

Sahityer Sera Somoy was for the first time introduced in the year 2001. The key reason behind this endeavour was to highlight the richness and glory of Bengali literature through the timeless works of the legendary writers of Bengal, particularly to the younger generation. Rabindranath Tagore’s Madhyabartini was the maiden story which was aired in this series and it was immensely popular and successful back then. Forthcoming attractions of Sahityer Sera Somoy include Kodi Diye Kinlam by Bimal Mitra and Kancher Dewal by Suchitra Bhattacharya.

Agnipariksha, starring Sambhavi Mukherjee, Veronica Mona Dutta, Swarnava Sanyal, Mafin Chakraborty, and Suchandra Chowdhury, is aired as part of the Sahityer Sera Somoy series every Monday to Saturday at 7.30pm on Aakash Aath.
