Arnold Schwarzenegger gets candid about bodybuilding, acting, politics and family in Netflix’s Arnold trailer

The three-part documentary series, directed by Lesley Chilcott, will arrive on the streaming platform on June 7

Hollywood action icon Arnold Schwarzenegger looks back at his bodybuilding days, acting career, political experiences and family life in the latest trailer of Netflix’s upcoming documentary series Arnold, unveiled by the streamer on Wednesday late night.

The two-minute-21-second-long trailer begins with the 75-year-old candidly speaking about his journey from rural Austria to becoming Mr. Universe at the age of 20 and subsequently winning Mr. Olympia — one of the most prestigious bodybuilding contests in the world. The actor also talks about his acting career as an action star and getting into politics.

The trailer is filled with real-life footage of various moments from Arnold’s life and several interviews from the past. He also talks about his mentality of not giving up and how his busy public life took a toll on his family. A significant portion of the clip focuses on his political career that led to him serving as the 38th governor of California between 2003 and 2011.

“He’s lived three lifetimes, and he isn’t finished. Watch the trailer for @schwarzenegger’s most in depth documentary ever. ARNOLD, premiering June 7,” Netflix wrote on Instagram alongside the trailer.

In the series, there’s unprecedented access to the most candid interviews from Schwarzenegger, his friends, foes, co-stars and observers. We see many talk about his days pumping iron to his triumphs in Hollywood, all the way to his time governing the state of California. The joys and the turbulence of his family life are unveiled in a tale that matches his larger-than-life persona,” reads the synopsis of the upcoming docu-series.

The series is directed by Lesley Chilcott, known for helming An Inconvenient Truth. Allen Hughes of The Defiant Ones fame is attached to the project as an executive producer.

Arnold follows the May 25 release of Schwarzenegger’s first OTT series FUBAR, a high-octane action thriller in which he plays an undercover CIA operative on his last mission before retirement. During the mission, he finds out that his daughter is also working for the CIA.
