Indian singer Armaan Malik joined global pop star Ed Sheeran on stage to perform the English singer-songwriter’s 2021 track 2step at the latter’s Mumbai concert on March 16.
Sharing a video of the moment on Monday, Armaan thanked Sheeran for giving him the opportunity to perform alongside him at Mahalaxmi Race Course. “Truly a full circle moment for me! Thank you Ed, for bringing me on to perform 2step last night,” he captioned the post on Instagram.
Sheeran was strumming his guitar in the video, while Armaan was blending Indian classical elements into the song. The British performer looked dapper in a black t-shirt that he paired with jeans; Armaan rocked an oversized white shirt adorned with red heart-shaped designs. The video ended with the two singers performing Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic arms-stretch-out pose on stage.
Another noteworthy collaboration at Sheeran's Mumbai concert featured singer-songwriter Diljit Dosanjh, who performed his 2021 track "Lover" alongside Sheeran, with the latter singing in Punjabi for the first time.
The concert marked Sheeran’s third performance in India after his x Tour in 2015 and his Divide Tour at Mumbai’s Jio Gardens in 2017. This third concert was a part of his ongoing ‘+ - = ÷ x Tour’, also known as The Mathematics Tour, which began on April 23, 2022, in Ireland’s Dublin and is scheduled to conclude on September 8 in Larnaca, Cyprus.
Sheeran's interactions with Bollywood celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Madhuri Dixit and Ayushmann Khurrana, during his Mumbai visit grabbed the headlines, adding to the excitement surrounding his tour.
