Following the trailer launch of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Kaapa and Selvaraghavan’s Bakasuran, the makers of other upcoming movies from the Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam film industries dropped new trailers and teasers last week. Here’s a look at some of them.
Ariyippu (Malayalam)
The trailer of upcoming Netflix Malayalam-language drama film Ariyippu has come out. Helmed by Mahesh Narayanan, who is known for C U Soon, Malik and Take Off, the film stars Kunchacko Boban and Divya Prabha in lead roles.
The two-minute-27-second-long trailer shows the daily life of a couple from Kerala. They now work in a medical gloves-making factory in Delhi. When the couple shoot some videos inside the factory and expose the unethical practices of the company, they face serious consequences. The north-south divide and language barrier are also highlighted.
Ariyippu will be streaming on Netflix from December 16.
Waltteri Veerayya (Telugu)
Chiranjeevi’s upcoming Telugu action film Waltteri Veerayya will hit the theatres on January 23. Directed by K. S. Ravindra and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the film also features Ravi Teja, Shruti Haasan, Catherine Tresa and Bobby Simha.
The makers have also shared a new poster of Chiranjeevi holding an axe on the decks of a pirate ship. Devi Sri Prasad composed the film's soundtrack.
Connect (Tamil)
Rowdy Pictures dropped the official trailer of its upcoming Tamil-language horror film Connect. Directed by Ashwin Saravanan, who earlier helmed Maya (2015), the film, written by Saravanan and Kaavya Ramkumar, stars Nayanthara, Sathyaraj, Anupam Kher, Vinay Rai, Haniya Nafisa and Anupam Kher.
In the two-minute-22-second-long trailer, we see Nayanthara playing the role of a wife and a loving mother leading a happy family life. However, everything changes when the pandemic hits the world. Her confinement after being tested positive becomes even more challenging as she learns her daughter is possessed by a ghost. She connects with her father and an exorcist via video calls to resolve the issue.
Connect will arrive in cinemas on December 22.
Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye (Kannada)
Applebox Studios unveiled the first character poster of its upcoming Kannada-language film Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye. Written and directed by Raj B Shetty, the film stars Siri Ravikumar, Balaji Monohar, Rekha Kudlugi, Surya Vasistha. The music for the film has been composed by Midhun Mukundan.
The production house shared the first character poster of Siri Ravikumar on its official Twitter handle. The actress will play the role of Prerana. In the poster, the actress is seen in a sari in the midst of a tranquil countryside holding a manuscript. Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye is produced by veteran actress Ramya.
