Bryce Dallas Howard’s Elly Conway is a reclusive author of espionage novels who finds herself caught up in the midst of spies and high-octane action in the trailer of the upcoming Apple TV+ film Argylle.
Dropped by the streamer on Wednesday, the two-minute-27-second-long trailer begins with Argylle (Henry Cavill), a secret agent on a mission, getting cornered by a group of spies led by Dua Lipa’s character. It turns out that Conway has already wrote about these real-life spies in her bestselling novel without even realising it.
The trailer then proceeds to show some action-packed sequences from the film featuring wrestler-actor John Cena. But Conway, who gets entangled in an espionage mission, is a solitary person who would rather spend a night at home with her computer and her cat. The video also unveils Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston, Schitt’s Creek actress Catherine O'Hara and Samuel L. Jackson's first looks from the film.
Conway’s bestselling book ends on a cliffhanger and Samuel’s character, who plays a spy, wants her to write the next part. The trailer ends with the author meeting the real-life Argylle, the protagonist of her popular spy novels.
Directed by Matthew Vaughn, who is known for his films Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) and X-Men: First Class (2011), Argylle is slated to release in February next year on Apple TV+.
