Triptii started out in 2017 with small roles in Sridevi-starrer Mom and Shreyas Talpade’s directorial Poster Boys.

The following year, she was launched as the main female lead in filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s brother Sajid Ali’s directorial, Laila Majnu, a passionate love saga written by the Rockstar maker himself. Triptii was lauded for her performance in Laila Majnu, though the film didn’t do well commercially, but it wasn’t until Anvita Dutt Guptan’s Netflix film Bulbbul in 2020 that she caught the nation’s attention in the title role.

Bulbbul producers Anushka Sharma and her brother Karnesh Sharma repeated Triptii in Anvita’s next film Qala, which dropped on Netflix in 2022, where she delivered an intense performance as a rising singer, alongside Swastika Mukherjee, Amit Sial and Babil Khan. Riding on the success of Qala came Triptii’s 10-minute role as Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘love affair’ in Sandeep Vanga Reddy’s Animal, gaining her national fame. Post-Animal, there has been a huge surge in Triptii’s Instagram follower count, which is 4.7M at present.

Wamiqa: Jab We Met to Khufiya

Wamiqa debuted in films pretty early with bit roles in Jab We Met, Love Aaj Kal, Mausam and Bittoo Boss, before making her Hindi debut with the 2013 coming-of-age film Sixteen. She has since starred in Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films and music videos. Wamiqa played Madan Lal’s wife in Kabir Khan’s 83 before appearing in Disney+Hotstar’s Grahan, Netflix’s Mai, and Prime Video’s Modern Love: Mumbai. In 2023, Wamiqa finally got two breakout roles that made her the nation’s darling — first, Vikramaditya Motwane’s Prime Video drama series Jubilee, and then Vishal Bhardwaj’s Netflix film Khufiya. She also starred as the lead in Bhardwaj’s Sony LIV detective series Charlie Chopra & The Mystery Of Solang Valley and the short film Fursat.

Wamiqa’s sensuous pictures and reels are a favourite of her fans on Instagram, where she has 3M followers and counting.

IMDb ratings

On IMDb’s Most Popular Indian Stars list, Wamiqa is currently at no. 4 after Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone. Wamiqa also trended at the top spot three times in 2023 on the weekly IMDb Popular Indian Celebrity post, on the IMDb app.

Triptii was named the Most Popular Indian Celebrity on IMDb right after Animal’s release on December 1, 2023. She went ahead of Suhana Khan and Khushi Kapoor, who made their debut in Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies around the same time.

Upcoming films

Among Triptti’s upcoming films are Anand Tiwari’s Mere Mehboob Mere Sanam opposite Vicky Kaushal, Vicky Vidya Ka Who Wala Video opposite Rajkummar Rao, an untitled project with Siddhant Chaturvedi, another untitled film with Yash, and Anurag Basu’s Aashique 3 with Kartik Aaryan.
